On Sunday, March 7 Gold Run Nordic Center will host the 7th annual DogTerra with all the usual fun: there will be ski jor clinics/practice, snowshoeing, Dogstacle course, frisbee/chuck-it throws, free Abbey’s coffee, cocoa and donuts and PRIZES and all the events will be timed. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers and door prizes will be handed out towards the end of the event, so you must keep your ticket numbers (anyone can win). Each paid entry allows you to participate in any of the events, since your dog(s) will be wearing the bib number. Ski jor clinics must be reserved with sign-up at registration as they will be divided into small groups of comparable ability. Harness set ups for ski joring will be provided and the small groups will allow you some individual attention from Louisa Morrissey who ran the clinic last year for us. Free doggie treats and water will be offered all morning to satisfy your furry buddies. You will need to bring either snowshoes or nordic skiis (or rent). Gold Run Nordic will let all paid entrants stay to ski/snowshoe all day on their EXPANDED doggie trails and offer discounted rentals.

Registration begins at 9:15 and costs $20 PER DOG for LAPS members and $22 for non-members. Each additional dog will only be $5. Humans are Free! With the new format we are hoping to eliminate any waiting for results and long lines to participate in all the segments. This is a fun and inexpensive family outing with the hairy mutts in tow and all proceeds go to a great cause. Any of the family members can try the different events even if you only bring one dog. We’ll keep the courses open until 12:30. All proceeds benefit L.A.P.S. and we hope to see you there!

Gold Run Nordic is located on Tiger Road on Hwy 9 South at the Breckenridge Golf Course.   Follow the signs to the clubhouse.

WELCOME to our meetings!
We meet at 6:30 pm on the third Thursday of each month at Abbey's Coffee in Frisco on Main Street next to BackCountry Brewery.   Please join us as a member of L.A.P.S. or just come to the meeting to get aquainted.   Energetic, involved people are always needed to serve as board members and to help with special events around Summit County.   We look forward to hearing from you.   LAPS events for dogs in Summit County includes Dog Terra, Canine 4K Feline No-Way, and Pet Photos with Santa and Grinch.   Let's Go Sailing on Father's Day weekend at Dillon Marina benefits L.A.P.S. but dogs can't sail with you.

L.A.P.S. is spearheading the effort to get Dog Parks in Summit County.   We need volunteers to form local committees and attend local government meetings to lobby for dog parks in your town.   Please email us at laps@colorado.net if you can help with this.   Left click here to view the Dog Park detail page.
